Why should we eat breakfast every morning
Many of us skip breakfast on a daily basis. The problem with this is that you set yourself up for severe hunger later, and a slower metabolism all day long due to not eating. Much of the reason why we claim not to eat breakfast is due to time. We feel short on time in the mornings so we simply skip it. It’s important to ensure that you work on this issue and eat a healthy breakfast. It’ll start you off right for the rest of the day. People who eat a healthy breakfast are more likely to make better lunch and dinner choices for the rest of the day. Here are some easy ideas for breakfast.
Cereal — Yes, it is okay to eat cereal for breakfast. The trick is choosing the right kind. Read the labels, not just the advertising on the front. Get cereal that is whole grain, without added sugars and salts, and then top them with fruit, nuts, honey, natural Stevia, almond milk and other tasty ingredients for a hearty meal that will stick with you. You can mix cereals together for even more options.
Pancakes — Yes, you can have pancakes. Make them with buckwheat flour, spices and pumpkin. Cook the night before in a stick proof pan, without oil added, and then in the morning warm up in the oven while you get ready for work. Then each person can grab a couple pancakes and top with fruit, nuts, honey, real maple syrup, or whatever other healthy toppings you’d like. (Hint: if you include fruit into all your breakfasts you’ll feel full longer!) If you’re in a huge hurry, grab the pancake and wrap it like a tortilla with fillings like chopped banana or other fruit.
Muffins — Cook giant whole wheat or oat flour muffins with an abundance of fruits and nuts inside. Eliminate table sugar by using alternatives such as more fruit like pulverized dates into the batter. Everyone can grab the muffins on the way out the door. Spread with some homemade natural nut butters, and apple sauce, if you need more calories and flavor.
Dinner — Yes, you can have dinner for breakfast. If you have left over’s from the night before, why not eat them for breakfast? Had beans the night before, grab a whole wheat tortilla, stuff with the beans, and you’re good to go. You can use the burrito idea with any type of filling savory or sweet. Even fruit in a burrito is delicious. If you have more time, you can even use a Panini press to make a crunchy crust using bread or tortillas.
Just Fruit — Somewhere along the way, people started thinking fruit was bad for them. It’s sweet, after all. Sweet means bad. Well, that’s not true. You can eat all the fruit you want for breakfast without any ill effects on your weight or your life. Eating three or four bananas for breakfast will equate to about 350 to 450 calories and is the perfect “fast” food for people on the run. While you’re at it grab an apple for a snack before lunch! If you have more time, simply blend your fruits together, put in a cup to go, and drink it on your way to work.
