Simple Crockpot Apple Butter


  • 4 lbs apples, cored and sliced (don’t peel)
  • 1 1/3 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider


grated zest and juice of one lemon 3 TBS grated ginger  Combine apples, brown sugar, apple cider, zest, juice.

Cover and cook 8-10 hours on low, til apples are  very soft.

(A good thing to do overnight!) Then stir in ginger, in crease heat to high,

uncover and  cook (stirring now and then) til mixture is reduced to about 3 cups for 8 to 10 hours.

(This part sounds kind of incredible, come to think of  it…I can’t imagine sticking around  for 10 hours to stiroccasionally…oh
well, I’ve come this far, might as well continue!).

Put the resulting  mash through a food mill.
